About Leesa Maree

Leesa Maree is a multidisciplinary creative, producer, photographer and visual storyteller whose career spans more than two decades across feature films, television, commercial photography, live events and creative production.

For Leesa Maree, the camera has always been more than a tool. It has been an extension of her head, her heart and the way she experiences the world. Over the past 21 years, she has built successful creative businesses, led talented teams and collaborated on projects ranging from intimate portraits and commercial campaigns to feature films and large-scale productions. Her work is driven by a simple philosophy: every person, brand and project has a story worth telling, and the most powerful stories are the ones that make people feel something.

Her career has taken her across Australia and around the world, creating work throughout Canada, Thailand, Indonesia, India and remote Indigenous communities in the Northern Territory. One of the most transformative chapters began while working on her first feature film in Mysore, India—an experience that inspired her to remain there for almost a year, immersing herself in a culture that continues to influence her creative perspective today.

With extensive experience spanning the entire production process—from concept development and pre-production through to photography, directing, producing, Assistant Directing, creative leadership and post-production—Leesa brings both artistic intuition and practical expertise to every project she undertakes.

Her recent work includes Assistant Director on the Australian feature film How To Talk Australians, alongside ongoing collaborations across commercial productions, live events and creative campaigns. Alongside her commercial work, Leesa has been privileged to collaborate with charities and purpose-driven organisations including Heartfelt, Make-A-Wish Australia, Camp Quality, Very Special Kids, Muso Magic, Kids with Cancer and many others. Creating work that has a meaningful and lasting impact continues to be one of the greatest privileges of her career.

Whether she's photographing an artist, directing a creative team, developing a campaign or documenting a once-in-a-lifetime moment, Leesa is known for bringing calm leadership, creative vision and an ability to make people feel genuinely comfortable in front of the camera.

Outside of work, inspiration is most often found by the ocean, travelling, spending time with her son Matai and noticing the quiet, beautiful moments that many people overlook. Those moments continue to shape both her life and her creative practice.

Leesa Maree believes creativity has the power to change the way people see themselves and the world around them.

The stories created today become the memories, history and legacy that are carried into tomorrow.

She would be honoured to help tell yours.
